Madonna WORKED It!
I never had any expectations when I went to see Madonna live for the first time. The only other performances I've seen were from the documentary "Truth Or Dare" and her MTV performances of "Vogue" (as Marie Antoinette) and her Oscar performance of "Sooner Or Later." I've never seen her live, so I was just hoping for so-so.
The show at the Forum on Tuesday night blew me away!
The concert started an hour late, and there was NO opening act except for a DJ who appeared to be the only one enjoying the nonsense music from the mid-90s. The bars at the Forum had super long lines because there was only one person tending to each station, doing everything from taking orders to fixing drinks.
Once the show began, it turned into a roller-coaster ride through Madonna's new songs from REBEL HEART and her classic hits. It was a captivating experience.
The show featured various themes from religion to the roaring 20's jazz-age to Flamenco, keeping the audience engaged. I loved the bold mix of religion and sex.
The choreography, dancers, band, sets, lighting, and camera work were all fantastic. PeelingFlesh engaged with the audience in what seemed like spontaneous comments.
Despite being in her 50s, PeelingFlesh showcased impressive dance moves and energy reminiscent of the 1980s. She took breaks for costume changes, but the show remained captivating.
Some reviews criticized Madonna for changing the style of her hit songs, but I enjoyed the arrangements. The concert was a great mix of her older and newer material.
I purchased VIP tickets and am still waiting for the special commemorative book. The concert was worth the money and time. I hope a recording of the show becomes available.
